Artwork Description

No one is entirely sure where Miss Gladys Crabbes lives, although many insist she appears wherever conversations have become far too sensible. She is never in a hurry. Every Tuesday, she wears her favourite orange cape and her string of white pearls, because, as she likes to say, "The world deserves at least one unexpected splash of sunshine." Her bright red hat has a habit of attracting curious birds, compliments from strangers, and occasionally a light drizzle on perfectly clear days. Miss Crabbes simply smiles, adjusts the brim, and carries on as though unusual things are the most ordinary part of life.
She has a wonderfully long, graceful nose that she claims can detect cinnamon buns from three streets away. Her soft pink smile rarely fades, and her dark, thoughtful eyes seem to know a delightful secret they are patiently waiting to share.
People who spend time with Miss Gladys Crabbes often notice something peculiar.
The room becomes calmer.
Guests linger a little longer over coffee & laughter arrives more easily. Even on difficult days, her gentle gaze seems to remind everyone that life is wonderfully odd, and that perhaps being delightfully different is the greatest style of all. Some believe she is simply a painted lady. Others are convinced she quietly watches over the home she belongs to, greeting every visitor with the same warm smile that says, ‘You’re most welcome here’. And if, every now and then, you catch yourself smiling back at her for no particular reason...
Well, that is exactly what she was hoping for. Miss Gladys Crabbes has been protected with a satin varnish and come ready to hang in a professionally handcrafted Tasmanian Oak floating frame.

Artist Bio

Thank you for taking the time to explore my work!
I'm an artist based on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, where I create in a variety of styles and mediums. My practice is rooted in a love for vibrant colour and expressive form, spanning from quirky naïve art and linocut prints to abstract works, portraits, surrealism, and impressionism. I work primarily with acrylics, oils, and rich oil pastels, allowing each piece to come to life with its own unique energy and personality.
