Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas

Signed on the front.

Dreams of Hollywood is based loosely on an old photo I found of a glamorous starlet. To me, it was a young girl trying hard to look like she belongs in Hollywood- determined to make it as an artist. Did she? I wonder...

Abstract person stands hunched and in pain. Their body is gaunt and their face is taught. The black and white background and person is juxtaposed with the bright orange of their psyche. The orange represent a web of complexity, an out-of-control maze of thoughts and emotions. The person is neither male or female, they are non-binary. Their sex dos not matter. The only thing that is relevant is their inner struggle.A distorted face in black and white has their eyes shut in want look like meditation or peace. But on closer viewing it becomes obvious that the strangled, tortured mind is out of control and has taken over ; it is the dominant force behind the persons state of being,A group of strangers or friends meet on a viewing platform to look at something in the distance. The figures are vague and mysterious which is a counterpoint to their bright colours.Man sits hugging his knees looking sad and contemplative. Strong angular face and bold brush strokes that creates the human form with the human psyche personified as a cloud in his head.
