Artwork Description

Discover the Quiet Power of Introspection
.
“Taking a Moment to Find My Knowing” is a contemplative mixed media collage that explores the quiet power of introspection.
.
Layered textures, labyrinths and abstract script suggest a journey inward – a search for truth, clarity and self-awareness.
.
A space to pause and breathe.
.
The artwork blends painterly backgrounds in calming earth tones and cool blues with hand-cut spiral labyrinths and black textile threads, symbolizing the unravelling and reweaving of thought.
.
Hints of handwritten text and fragmented language drift across the canvas, evoking memory and the fragmented nature of understanding.
.
Threads are both tethered and fraying, reflecting the duality explored in my ‘Un/Tethering’ series – how we anchor to or release from self, society and others.
.
"Taking a Moment to Find My Knowing" is an intricate mixed media collage that explores the journey of self-discovery, transformation and inner peace.
.
At the heart of this artwork are labyrinths representing cycles of growth, movement and change. Inspired by the inner knowing or inner voice that calls us toward joy, freedom, and self-love.
.
Using encaustic wax, an ancient technique of melting beeswax, resin, and pigments, this artwork achieves a beautifully tactile, almost ethereal quality. The fusion of paper, paint, textiles, and hand-cut details makes each layer feel alive, rich with meaning and emotion.
.
This work is part of a broader inquiry into womanhood, caregiving, creativity, and emotional resilience. Inspired by lived experience and voices such as Brene Brown, Marisa Peer, Mel Robbins and Glennon Doyle, my practice is rooted in storytelling, vulnerability, and healing.
.
Nature is my sanctuary -whether ocean swimming, walking or cycling these moments of connection find their way into my art.
.
Professionally framed and ready to display, this artwork is ideal for collectors drawn to emotionally resonant, thought-provoking compositions.
.
Stirzaker’s work speaks to those seeking meaning and beauty in complexity—perfect for modern living spaces, reflective offices, or curated collections.
.
Bring home a piece that encourages reflection and stillness in today’s fast-paced world.

Artist Bio

In high school I had to choose between art and economics, and you guessed it economics won.
.
Fast forward though career and kids, I was sitting in the car park after my weekly art class and I turned to my friend and said, ‘This is it, my youngest is starting high school and this is my chance to follow my dream of being an artist.'
.
I realised I was missing out on loving myself and when I make art if feels like home.
.
I secretly applied to art school, as I was scared that I wasn’t living my true life but wasn’t ready to tell my loved ones.
.
Art connects with the real me and now I express myself through emotive fibre artworks combining my love of textiles and art.
.
A bit more about me...

My artwork is very thought provoking, personal and honest. I explore my lived experience with themes around the emotional body and positive affirmations. I am drawn to working with everyday domestic materials including old garments, found objects, household packaging and reclaimed linen.
.
Employing painting and textiles techniques including text, hand stitch, applique and embroidery my artworks analyze and critique my life and thus reflects today’s Australian society.
.
I use recurring motifs in my artwork - the words ' I AM ENOUGH', the canary and an abstracted box shape.
.
The words I AM ENOUGH are at the core of self-worth, I acknowledge the yearning for something and recognise that the acceptance of self-starts with I AM ENOUGH.
.
The canary motif is drawn from the concept of the miner’s canary and the idea of listening to your inner canary – follow what makes your heart sing.
.
The flattened prescription medicine box is representative of the society box we try to fit into and also comments on the increasing use of prescription medicine to medicate people, to fit into society.
