Peter was born in Newcastle and studied at the National Art School during the 1970s. He went on to study with renown portrait painter Graeme Inson, in Sydney in the early 1980s.
He has held many one man exhibitions and half shows with other artists during the past 30 years. His first one man show was a sellout with many more successful exhibitions.

Being an exponent of the tonal impressionist school of painting, his paintings are efforts to create a visual poem either about the landscape or his relationship to it as a โsense of placeโ. He is moved by the essentials of the subject, the unsettling abstract shapes, and the elements that combine to express feeling and mood.
