Sand dunes were part of my childhood and the usual summer experience of going to the beach. I would run through them with my friends, yelling with delight at the sight and smell of the sea as we arrived; then when the cold of the water had eventually chilled us we would play in the dunes, jumping down slopes, chasing each other; and at the end of the day we would trudge wearily back up those same slopes. As I grew I realised that sand dunes were beautiful, amazing, worth protecting . This painting is a composition that is one of many memories or feelings that I have for dunes and depicts sand dunes bathed in summer light.
