The painting depicts Lake Eyre receiving a flow of water from the Warburton River. This event happens as rarely as once in a decade and initiates a renewal of life in the lake - fish multiply throughout the lake and they provide an abundant source of food for large flocks of birds that arrive to feed and breed.

Artist Bio
I was inspired to be an artist after reading a biography of Michelangelo. I was seventeen and had just started work in a factory as an apprentice fitter and turner. The biography moved me to begin a night course in clay modelling and I practiced sculpting in my spare time for several years.
When I married I trained as a potter with my wife Janet Anderson – a student of Milton Moon. We set up Brown’s Pottery in the Adelaide Hills and during the 70’s and 80’s produced functional stoneware for Craft Galleries in South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.
After I remarried I moved to Adelaide and our home now fronts Linea Park that skirts the River Torrens. My studio overlooks the park and has inspiring views of gum trees and native bushes.
Retiring in 2010, I resumed sculpting and first exhibited at the Museum of South Australia as a finalist in the 2012 Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize . Apart from selling at the exhibition I received numerous commissions as well as an invitation to be the feature artist at an exhibition at the Art Images gallery.
In 2014 my passion moved to painting. I really enjoy painting with oil and my subjects are inspired by the beauty and diversity of nature.
