Sometimes a scene catches you by surprise as you walk past late at night... a light emanating in a strange way - silhouetted by tendrils of clouds and pillars casting some strange shadows on an otherwise unassuming lawn. I wanted to capture this ethereal presence before it vaporised in the cold logic of the morning.

Trevor Ludlow is an artist residing in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Originally from Brisbane, he draws inspiration from suburban landscapes and the divide between high and low culture. Sometimes he ventures into figurative depictions and natural environments.

Trevor is inspired by intense yet simple colours, as well as sharp contrasts, and the desire to find a form of hyper-realism in the mundane. He attempts to distill the emotional responses to familiar environments that people mostly ignore. You might say he is looking for the liminal in the subliminal.

Largely a self-taught artist, Trevor’s, background in film production often gives a cinematic flair to the construction of his images. Trevor continues to sell his works throughout Australia and overseas, and remains busy expanding his portfolio and working on commissions, following several successful solo exhibitions over the past three years.
