Artwork Description

The Humpback whale is a magnificent soul of our ocean. They are loved and admired worldwide. They are intelligent, sensitive and kind. After the total eastern Australian humpback population declined down to a measly 150 due to commercial whaling between the 1850s and 1960s, numbers have built back to a staggering 40,000 over the last 30 years. "protector" is the power of the mother to protect her young from beginning to end. North Stradbroke is a favourite area of ours to witness their journey.
