Artwork Description

The reference to solitude in Wordsworth's poem "Daffodils", resonates strongly with me. Research supports the concept that solitude is a vital part of mental health and well-being. Solitude doesn't mean being lonely; it simply means being alone at times and being comfortable in your own company. Time spent in this way enables me to think more clearly, heightens my ability to be truly in the moment and enhances my creativity. While painting this artwork I was dealing with the serious health issue of a loved one (which thankfully has now been resolved). I found that solitude allowed me to contemplate, to focus and reflect from a different perspective and to replace stress and worry with a sense of calm, hope and rejuvenation. I feel this artwork reflects those feelings. It is blissful, uplifting and evokes a calming and positive vibe.

The edges of the painting are painted white. The artwork is ready to hang with a wire across the back.

Artist Bio

I interpret the images of my environment and my emotions through abstract painting, drawing and sculpture.

Nature is my constant inspiration, providing an endless source of fascination and of strange and wonderful imagery.

Ocean tides, the movement and force of the sea and its oceanic forms and textures;
The texture and shape of rock formations – monumental and timeless, storytellers of past geological events;
The diversity and richness of the Australian landscape;
The dramatic effects of cloud formations and sunsets and the infinite beauty of flora with its limitless forms, colors and textures.

I believe such imagery, so passionately observed and deeply embedded in the unconscious mind informs the way in which it is expressed through art.

I enjoy exploring different techniques and mediums aiming to bring freshness and spontaneity to my art.
