Artwork Description

In this piece I wanted to capture the colours and textures of the beautiful Canning River. It is a source of inspiration for me and provides a sense of calm and renewal on a daily basis. The surface of the canvas is highly textured and tactile but as a whole my hope is that this painting conveys a feeling of restfulness.

I am an artist based in Perth, originally from regional Western Australia.

For as long as I can remember I have been a wanderer and a dreamer, with a great love of nature. My current art practice reflects an ongoing response to my everyday environment and a desire to experiment with colour and materials. Walking, photography and sketching are my main methods of gathering source material. Combined with memory and imagination, I develop works using watercolour, gouache, acrylic paint and an assortment of drawing materials.
