This is an earlier painting which was part of a series of works of catharsis following the deaths of my parents. My mother loved roses and had a beautiful rose garden which she tended passionately. She had many varieties and colours but the pale peach one always took my breath away. I used it in this piece to represent the beauty of both my parents while the pose of the model suggests the lifting of the veil of grief to allow some light in.
