Paddling along the river in my kayak is one of the positives which has come out of the Covid time. The pleasure of the quiet immersion in nature is exhilarating. You see the world from a different perspective and all colours, shapes and sounds are magnified. Depending on the time of day the colour palette changes. Sunset provides the most special experience with the surroundings glowing for a short amount of time. River Paddle holds onto this end of day feeling with all its glory.
This painting is about surrendering to the rhythm of nature. It celebrates those rare moments when time seems to pause, when the only sounds are the whisper of reeds, the distant call of a bird and the soft dip of a paddle returning to the river.
The journey ends where it began—not because nothing has changed, but because the traveller has.
The painting has been framed with an artisan wooden frame. The wood is Australian hardwood gum kept as natural as possible. The frame has been crafted using only hand tools. The brown reddish colour enhance the feeling of being immersed in nature.
