Artwork Description

The still-life portrait is a study of elements involved in creating an artwork. The tools of an artist that are found lying around in any painters’ studio are the focus of this still-life, by placing what would usually be behind the scenes front and centre; The artwork creates a sense of Temporal Inversion. The play of natural light from an unseen window across the Portrait figure emphasizes on an artists’ gender, race and cultural biases that are often present in artworks.
