Artwork Description

Floral Garlands are a symbol of peace, love, purity, passion, beauty, and remembrance. They have been used in religious and cultural ceremonies for centuries as an auspicious token of devotion. A hyper-realistic still life study of an Indian flower shop is an ode to human symbolism and its manifestation in Indic cultures. The 4 garlands with different floral combinations represent different ceremonies at various stages of life from birth to death. The 1st garland with white flowers in the middle are offered when welcoming important guests at events as a symbol of respect, the second one with mixed colours is a religious offering to deity as symbol of love and devotion. The third one with a long tail is used in wedding ceremonies as a symbol acceptance and love among couples. The fourth one in the middle is placed on dead loved ones photograph in houses as a remembrance to their life.
