Smile with delight at Val Wrightโs classically loose, charming watercolours of
birds and animals, some of them with quirky expressions or poses. Living in a
house surrounded by bush, she has been inspired by the many beautiful native
birds. Visits to zoos and farms, and traveling around Australia by caravan have
also provided plenty of other enticing subjects from emus to elephants. Val works
from photographs and sketches but also from life whenever possible to add some
personality to her subjects. In addition, years spent in Indonesia, and at home in the
UK before emigrating ten years ago have provided many other subjects from cows
and horses to orang utans.
Val has been painting for over 35 years. Initially inspired by painting with the
acclaimed Austrian watercolour artist Marilyse Forster for many years.
She has exhibited many times in UK, Indonesia, and in Australia at her studio in
Galston, NSW.
