Artwork Description

The Earth has been in constant flux for millennia. The tectonic plates below our feet move and shake, it is an unstoppable force and we have not choice but to go along for the ride. The transformation of the landscape is evident in the rivers that flow and have carved great canyons or earthquakes so powerful that earth rose from the sea.

In a state of impermanence if part of an ongoing series titled The evidential testimony of time, where the physical artwork is as important as the imagery itself. The idea for a constructed photographic work was sparked by the additivity principle; where the sum of the of a bisected shape, rearranged, will result in the same area total.

In this rational, this work can be seen as a visual metaphor for the malleable and changing landscape, but that it is a force that is always constant.

In a state of impermanence was a finalist in the 2017 Fishers Ghost Art Prize in the contemporary category.
