Artwork Description

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

The inspiration for my latest oil painting, a mesmerizing portrayal of white roses, originated from the profound impact of Richard Schmid's book, "A la Prima II." Upon reading this artistic masterpiece, I felt an intense urge to convey the essence of these delicate flowers on canvas in an impressionistic style.

Several months ago, I had the privilege of exploring the breathtaking gardens of The Old Parliament House in Canberra. There, I captured the enchanting beauty of these white roses through the lens of my camera. Their graceful petals and ethereal presence left an indelible impression.

This is an everlasting field at Kings Park Perth. The field is a proud picture of any day of September, filled with fuchsia, pink and white flowers overlooked by a blue clean sky.In this 20 by 20 cm painting, a delightful scene unfolds as a couple of sunflowers sway gently in the wind. One of the sunflowers, facing away, lends an air of intrigue and intimacy to the composition. While one bloom proudly displays its golden face to the viewer, the other sunflower turns, as if engaged in a quiet conversation with nature, its back turned in a moment of private reverie. Display of pink roses while some are illuminated by the sun, other ones are precluded in the shadows. Almost hidden in the vibrant dark green of the plant leaves.
