This work deals with the theme of fire, both as a creative and destructive force. While fire is something feared, particularly in bushland areas such as the Blue Mountains where I live, making this painting caused me to reflect on how very tied we are to material things, and the release that could come with just letting go of everything, as in the Deborah Conway song 'She prefers fire'.
