Artwork Description

An opulent autumn landscape in the style of Gustav Klimt, where towering trees rise vertically like golden pillars toward the sky. Their trunks are elongated and slightly abstracted, decorated with intricate patterns and shimmering textures. The foliage forms a dense canopy of luminous colours—graduating from warm yellows and burnished golds to deep reds, rose pinks, and hints of amber—applied in layered, mosaic-like brushstrokes.

The ground is richly ornamented with clusters of fallen leaves rendered as decorative motifs, creating a tapestry-like surface rather than realistic earth. Light filters through the canopy in soft, glowing patches, giving the entire scene a radiant, almost dreamlike quality. The composition feels flat yet immersive, with emphasis on pattern, rhythm, and colour harmony rather than depth, evoking both nature and ornamentation in a distinctly Klimt-inspired, impressionistic vision.

Freshly painted, please allow 2-3 weeks for drying before dispatching.

Artist Bio

Vasil (Vasily) Kulchenkois a contemporary artist based in Western Australia, creating original paintings inspired by the vast landscapes, coastline and unique light of Australia. His work transforms familiar scenery into refined minimalist compositions using geometric forms, rich texture and a carefully balanced palette.

Originally trained in classical and impressionist painting, Vasil has developed a distinctive contemporary style that combines abstraction, cubist influences and expressive texture. Rather than capturing every detail, his paintings focus on atmosphere, space and the emotional connection between people and the Australian landscape. Small figures or wildlife often appear within expansive compositions, inviting viewers to pause and imagine their own place within the scene.

Drawing inspiration from the Karri forests of Pemberton, the rugged coastline of Western Australia, the outback and Australia's iconic wildlife, each painting seeks to evoke a sense of calm, openness and quiet beauty. Heavy palette-knife textures and confident brushwork create depth and movement while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic suited to contemporary interiors.

Vasil's work is held in private collections throughout Australia and internationally. Every painting is an original, created with professional-quality materials and designed to bring warmth, character and a lasting connection to the Australian landscape into the home.
