Coastal Fields is a small original acrylic painting from my ongoing Kangaroo Series, exploring Australian landscapes through geometry, color and light.

A solitary kangaroo pauses beneath a sculptural eucalyptus tree, overlooking rolling canola fields stretching toward the coast. The landscape is simplified into bold geometric planes of golden ochre, green, navy, cream and warm earth tones.

I wanted to capture the distinctive light of the Australian landscape while giving the scene a contemporary, almost architectural structure.

Painted with layered color texture, the work combines Australian wildlife with a modern cubist-inspired approach to landscape painting.

Vasil (Vasily) Kulchenko is a contemporary artist based in Western Australia, creating original paintings inspired by the vast landscapes, coastline and unique light of Australia.
