Grass walk

In this oil painting, I sought to capture the vibrant energy and fluid beauty of nature. Using abstract and impressionistic techniques blended with touches of realism, I portrayed a lush, dynamic meadow. The strokes create a sense of movement, as if the breeze itself were visible, dancing through the wildflowers under a tranquil sky. This piece is intended to bring a burst of life and tranquility into any space, evoking the serenity and lushness of an untouched natural landscape.

Vasil (Vasily) Kulchenko is a contemporary artist based in Western Australia, creating original paintings inspired by the vast landscapes, coastline and unique light of Australia. His work transforms familiar scenery into refined minimalist compositions using geometric forms, rich texture and a carefully balanced palette.

Originally trained in classical and impressionist painting, Vasil has developed a distinctive contemporary style that combines abstraction, cubist influences and expressive texture. Rather than capturing every detail, his paintings focus on atmosphere, space and the emotional connection between people and the Australian landscape. Small figures or wildlife often appear within expansive compositions, inviting viewers to pause and imagine their own place within the scene.

Drawing inspiration from the Karri forests of Pemberton, the rugged coastline of Western Australia, the outback and Australia's iconic wildlife, each painting seeks to evoke a sense of calm, openness and quiet beauty. Heavy palette-knife textures and confident brushwork create depth and movement while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic suited to contemporary interiors.

Vasil's work is held in private collections throughout Australia and internationally. Every painting is an original, created with professional-quality materials and designed to bring warmth, character and a lasting connection to the Australian landscape into the home.
