Artwork Description

Uluru Mosaic I is part of my contemporary Australian landscape series, inspired by the iconic beauty of Uluru and the vast open spaces of the outback.

Rather than recreating the landscape realistically, I have interpreted it through hundreds of geometric shapes that capture shifting light, colour and texture. Warm ochres, rich oranges, dusty pinks and cool blues reflect the unique palette of Central Australia, while native gum trees and quietly observing kangaroos create a sense of place and scale.

The faceted composition invites the viewer to explore the landscape piece by piece, revealing new details from every distance. From across the room, Uluru dominates the horizon; up close, the painting becomes an intricate mosaic of colour and movement.

Created with acrylic on canvas, this artwork celebrates Australia's natural heritage through a modern cubist aesthetic. It is designed to bring warmth, energy and a distinctive Australian character to contemporary interiors.

Perfect for collectors who appreciate modern Australian landscapes, geometric abstraction and original artwork inspired by the beauty of the outback.

Original acrylic painting on canvas. Signed on the front/back and ready to hang.

Artist Bio

Vasil (Vasily) Kulchenkois a contemporary artist based in Western Australia, creating original paintings inspired by the vast landscapes, coastline and unique light of Australia. His work transforms familiar scenery into refined minimalist compositions using geometric forms, rich texture and a carefully balanced palette.

Originally trained in classical and impressionist painting, Vasil has developed a distinctive contemporary style that combines abstraction, cubist influences and expressive texture. Rather than capturing every detail, his paintings focus on atmosphere, space and the emotional connection between people and the Australian landscape. Small figures or wildlife often appear within expansive compositions, inviting viewers to pause and imagine their own place within the scene.

Drawing inspiration from the Karri forests of Pemberton, the rugged coastline of Western Australia, the outback and Australia's iconic wildlife, each painting seeks to evoke a sense of calm, openness and quiet beauty. Heavy palette-knife textures and confident brushwork create depth and movement while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic suited to contemporary interiors.

Vasil's work is held in private collections throughout Australia and internationally. Every painting is an original, created with professional-quality materials and designed to bring warmth, character and a lasting connection to the Australian landscape into the home.
