Artwork Description

This vision carries the scent of aged wood and forgotten lullabies, damp earth and velvet longing, silence steeped in time. It doesn’t speak - it lingers, like the trace of a spell, like perfume left on skin after touching the unknown. In this stillness, memory breathes… and something beyond sleep whispers.

Painting was made by layering multiple coats of paint and then selectively removing parts of them, creating the illusion of something fleeting and ethereal, akin to a dream one tries to recall upon waking.

Artist Bio

Veronika Tarasova was born on December 14, 1981, in Russia, in the city of Nalchik, a small city nestled in the foothills of the North Caucasus. In 1998, she graduated from the Nalchik art school. She pursued her higher education in the city of Rostov-on-Don at the Rostov State Academy of Architecture and Art from 1999 to 2005, majoring in Architecture of Residential and Public Buildings. Since 2015, she has resided in Perth, Western Australia. Working as an architect, she was always cognizant of the significant role of fine art in shaping people's living spaces and its impact on their emotional well-being. Over time, Veronika naturally transitioned from the profession of architect to that of an artist.

Veronika employs canvas and acrylics to bring her paintings to life. By layering multiple coats of paint and then selectively removing parts of them, she creates the illusion of something fleeting and ethereal, akin to a dream one tries to recall upon waking. With a background as an architect-designer, she is drawn to ornate surfaces, working with recurring elements, and experimenting with combinations of textures and colours.
