Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

This artwork was created during a period of lockdown amidst the chaos of Covid 19. House plants became something that many people used as a relaxation and wind-down tool. The tending to the plants and the joy of seeing them grow and change became something to ground people during this time. I brought the goddess of house plants to life to commemorate this time.
She brings with her the amazing healing energy of growth and change along with a sense of stability and the sacredness of being home and safe.

All art by Vic Downey

A rectangle painting made up of many layers of acrylic paint to create depth and richness of colour. The main colours are a deep blue, a light blue and elements of green. There is a large black bird representing a cormorant in the centre of the image with its wings wide open. The bird's body is facing the banks of the river where a stone house sits. The house has a ghostly feel to it like it has just emerged onto the landscape and maybe doesn't really belong there. A large square canvas painted in pastel tones of pink, pale blue, yellow. In the background there are large abstract shapes. In front of these are a collection of many different types of plants all painted in detail with some ink details.
