Life is an experiment of our emotions. If you get the chance to choose a life where you are able to express who you are, you will find meaning for yourself. At least that's how I try to live my life.
I show experimental art projects that portray my own life experiences. This includes my experiences as a migrant to this land of contrasts called Australia. As life has gone by, I have found that by experimenting with mixed media and colours, I have been able to convey the passions that life lays on us through its up and downs.
In terms of my artistic technical progression, it all started in 1995 by experimenting using oil on canvas and studying human forms with charcoal. Those basic experimentations were guided by attending art classes in a technical institution, local art workshop and local artist tutorials in Bogota, Colombia - the country in which I was born. This time was accompanied by studying well known artists' works of the world.
In 1997, I took my artistic craving to New York city. A city that profoundly inspired my journey in art. It was an opportunity to learn about what was happening in the artistic world at the time by seeing the works of people from all over the world and developing self taught drawing techniques.
Wanting to see more of the world, I set off to Sydney, Australia in 1998. I studied a diploma of graphic design at an institution that gathered international design and art students from all over the world. I learnt to appreciate different interpretations of artistic tasks and experiment with colour by the use of technology. During this time and following into the early decade of 2000, I experimented further with colour using technological media and composition layouts as a graphic designer.
At around 2015, taking further studies at Macquarie University and seeing the effect of art experimentation in the education world, I enriched my artistic techniques by using acrylics on canvas. During this time, I consolidated a unique abstract representation with the use of mixed media and have since been able to exhibit my artistic work publicly.
My current work is enriched with texture and protected with layers of high gloss varnish. This enables the colours to pop out and really make a statement to your eye.
Welcome to my colourful, textured perspective of the world!
