Artwork Description

There are two pieces best hung as a diptych (Opal Palette 1 and Opal Palette 2) but could be sold separately. The third inset photo shows both Opal Palette 1 and 2 side-by-side. Each is inspired by the palette of the Australian Opal. I fell in love with the Australian Opal when I first saw several examples at an art exhibition in Adelaide, SA. Coming from the State of New Mexico in the US I found that many of the colours reflected in the opal reminded me of the gold and red deserts in the US Southwest. I'm ever so pleased to discover the same beauty here in Australia!

Artist Bio

Before retiring two years ago I worked as a nurse and administrator for over 30+ years in the United States, Saudi Arabia and Australia. Education in art includes Adelaide Central School of Art, Splashout Studios and mentoring with such artists as Louise Feneley, Lauryn Arnott, John Lacey plus many others.

Exhibitions have included locations such as Queenscliff Art Exhibition 2022, Red Poles Winery, Gallery M, Glenelg Art Gallery, Walkerville Art Show, Orange Heart Gallery at Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Splashout Art Gallery and many other venues in the Adelaide area.

My works are primarily in oils but other materials are explored as well. Although I will take on any subject, my present primary artistic interests include the Australian landscape and the human figure. The SA Tour Down Under inspired the painting, Skinny Tyres. For many years I was an avid road cyclist with many long-distance desert/mountain rides under my belt. The determined face and body of the serious biker recalls the pain of pounding up a mountain pass and the excitement of zipping down the other side onto the flats of the high desert. Snow-capped mountains with looming tall pines, golden fields and red dirt reflect the memories of my TREK’s ‘Skinny Tires’ on the road.

My work is signed as TDC, short for Taylor Dickson Creek. This signature is surname initials for my mother, husband and father. It’s also a pen signature for writing.

I presently reside in Glenelg, SA with my husband and Ella, the bpuncing German Shorthaired Pointer.
