As the name suggests, my sister's flowers is exactly what this painting is. My sister lives in the U.K so we don't get to see each other much, and therefore share each other's lives through photos. This painting is of photo she took of the flowers she bought herself. She buys some each week and has been teaching herself how to arrange them. As I was a florist once, she loves to show me her accomplishments. I just love the combination of flowers, the richness of the deep burgundy Dianthus with a few Gerberas thrown in and some Lisianthus hiding in the background. The composition and the lighting of her photo were great to work with too.
I am a bit obsessed with strong contrasts between light and dark and aim to make the colours pop.
