This botanical still life artwork was inspired by dahlias from the local flower market. It was painted as part of the 'Quiet Moments' collection - a series of paintings which focused on flower studies painted within small pockets of quiet moments after I returned from maternity leave.

"There were so many varieties of dahlias available that day but I was immediately drawn to the unusual petals of the magenta flower. I had also just seen the new Barbie movie and it was fresh in my mind. There was something just fun and summery about this bunch of flowers (just like the movie) and I tried to capture that vibe with my mark marking and colour choices."

Artist grade gouache paint on 300gsm watercolour paper.
