Artwork Description

A selection of Australia's endangered native wildlife, some critically so. (A list of the featured animals is affixed to the back of the painting. ) I have embedded some of these beautiful creatures inside the Cairns Birdwing butterfly, a local butterfly, endangered due to climate change and habitat loss. The darling vulnerable koala sits atop as my icon of the innocence, totally at the mercy of mankind.

Artist Bio

The inspiration for my work comes from nature. Every aspect of nature both thrills and dismays me. Every creature I see, I see as an individual. The fate of many is fraught with danger and uncertainty. This is especially so for farm animals, regarded by many as mere commodities. It is for these reasons that I chose to paint animals, where they are depicted beautiful, defiant and proud.
I also enjoy painting waterfalls and rainforests and have derived much pleasure bringing my surroundings to life via a rich palette of nature's bold colours. The region I live in boasts such natural beauty that the desire to portray that on canvas is tangible. I paint in acrylics on stretched canvas and my style is photorealism.
I feel privileged to be gifted enough to produce the works that I do. I do hope that others may enjoy my paintings.
