After the rain there is now in the sky a bruised silver, reflected in a fresh pool among nodding blue-green reeds and their near-black reflections like silk thread.

I love the unusual perspective of this piece. The luscious curves of the pool are echoed in the reeds, and the dark shadow lines feel like calligraphy as the day writes its story on the water. The darks are in fact a deep aubergine/eggplant purple with brown for greater depth than black, and blending with a soft mauve tint in the light areas.

Painted on unstretched fine-weave Italian linen. There is ample margin material to accommodate any framing choice.
