Artwork Description

Inspired by the iconic Australian visuals of golden wheat fields bathed in sunlight. The effects of the paint's texture is designed to capture the sun's reflection bouncing off the wheat's grainy surface.

Artist Bio

My name is Virginia Rose Kiernan and I’ve been a passionate visual artist for as long as I can remember! Growing up and living by the sea in Melbourne Australia, I've taken meaningful inspiration from various natural settings that are only a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby metropolitan concrete jungle. From watching ominous clouds roll in over the sea during an afternoon storm, through to the observation of the tranquility and beauty of a gentle windless sunset, these scenarios evoke an array of emotions and visual associations which I explore on canvas. The contrast of the raw natural splendor to the mechanization of Melbourne's CBD also present a schismatic, dynamic contrast between environments that further inspire my visions.

I like to think of my artwork as a raw expressive collage of color, form, and tonality. My desire is to explore objects taken from everyday life – whether they be people, animals or various artifacts – and present them in fields of dynamic color and textural schemes that generate feelings of conflict, harmony, tranquility and/or intensity. These various types of presentations help inspire audiences to view them with renewed meaning and varying interpretations.

My art comprises of acrylics, oils, pastels, inks, and fluid paints; all of which convey raw compositions that rely more so on expression than structure. The turbulent aspect of textures and colors are also helpful in contrasting against figures and objects that I often utilize. I ultimately seek to continually evolve my style by being attentive to my changing environmental surrounds, as well as the constant development and interpretations of aesthetic choices.
