Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
I grew up in a country town in Devon, and my school was, from memory, the same as the one depicted in the painting.
The dog is very important to me. I had a dog called Peter and he was my closest friend. He would follow me to school and he was always there at the end of the day. I still miss him and he died about 60 years ago.
I also remember this boy chasing the girls with a green frog in his hand.
The teacher in the doorway is based on my favourite teacher at the school. When I was ill she came round to my house with a jar of calves foot jelly (not heard of much these days)
What a lot of memories in one painting!
This painting is on stretched canvas.Unpainted sides and ready to hang
