Parisian Echoes

This is a spontaneous depiction of a scene I chanced upon in Sydney's I climbed up the levels of a parking lot to retrieve my car. The languid afternoon shadows, the wrought-iron balconies with their flowers tumbling over and the people enjoying a quiet coffee transported me in an instant to a similar moment in Paris years ago.

This painting has beautiful charcoal grey frame with white matting. It is framed behind glass and sealed in back to protect from mould.
This work is imbued with a joyous calm and an appreciation for the beauty of the everyday.

I am a self-taught artist. I began my journey painting porcelain in Geneva in 2014 but have since been painting in acrylics, oils and watercolours. I am inspired by everyday beauty, the kind that is ever-present in my surroundings. I am deeply moved by the transformative power of light in my physical space and this drives my passion to paint. I love painting scenes of natural beauty as much as I enjoy painting urban scenes. In these works, my aim is to convey an emotional response to a physical scene rather than merely presenting an accurate representation of it. In both my still lifes and landscape paintings, light and shadow are key players.

I do not restrict myself to a specific style or subject matter, deriving a keen enjoyment from all avenues of creative work. My abstract paintings are works of meditation that come about as a result of obsessive internal dialogues about modern life, the passage of time and faith.
