Artwork Description

This work emerged from an interest in erased surfaces, bodily traces and the instability of memory. Built through repeated layering, scraping and overpainting, the painting explores the tension between gesture and disappearance — where marks hover between drawing, mapping and figure without fully resolving. Framed in a pine box frame.

Artist Bio

Watson’s work is a creative alchemy of intense and bold works which merge aesthetics and a precise narrative to invite viewers to engage with abstraction. Inspired by the beauty of imperfections her paintings are built in layers, some hidden some revealed, just like time leaves its mark on everything, hoping to inspire you to find beauty in the unfinished, the worn, the ever changing. Each painting carries the story of change, time and the beauty found in every layer.

Watson enjoys a directness and rawness in her works that allows the expression of her emotions, where the allure of paint provides a physicality of communication and permanence. The interplay of intense colours and stark constrasts is not accidental but a deliberate strategy to invoke a visceral response. She builds up richly layered compositions integrating both abstract elements with figurative or symbolic symbols inspired by living on the coast.

She likes to transform rooms into colorful and happy places. Inspiring viewers to resonate with feelings of tranquility, passion, tenderness and calm to explore emotional and natural landscapes that evoke personal memories: capturing the pulse of life. Her pieces are eclectic, presenting assemblages of hues, colour contrasts, and symbols waiting for a beholder to interpret their mysteries.
