Artwork Description

Elliptical Adventures is a reflective liquid water abstract with beautiful hues of green, olive, brown and beige coupled with lovely moving shapes and patterns that have a creative detailed indigenous appeal.

This photographic image is from the 'Fluidity Collection' (released in 2024 & 25) that studies the abstract reflection of structure on still and moving bodies water such as rivers, harbours and waterways.

The Fluidity Collection explores our connection with our natural environment and the calming peaceful balance that nature can bring to one’s life by simply taking the time to look beyond just a quick glance and loose yourself and thoughts in something so mesmerizing and naturally beautiful.

I regularly spend time on my own and simply wandering through Australian native bushland alongside waterways and oceans with my camera in hand. Over the past couple of years I have recently re-discovered how captivating peaceful water can be particularly when I focused on it as a topic of creative interest. I quickly became inspired and intrigued by how shapes and patterns form and change quickly with movement and light on the water around and near structures.

While I've always had a deep bond with water, particular since I have always lived by the ocean, my connection to water has certainly intensified and strengthened during the development of this collection. I’m really excited to be sharing this collection with the world now rather than keeping it close and just enjoying it myself.

I shoot all my images in high-resolution and photoshop them to remove any imperfections with the aim of highlighting the natural abstract beauty of nature while still maintaining the image to be as true as possible to its natural state.

Artist Bio

Wendy Fogarty
Abstract Nature-Inspired Artist | Wollongong, NSW

Wendy Fogarty is a contemporary visual artist whose abstract works are deeply inspired by the raw, ever-changing beauty of Australia’s diverse landscapes. Drawing from a lifelong passion for photography, design, and a close connection to nature, Wendy transforms her observations—whether it’s the pigmentation of the sky, reflections in water, or the textures of tree bark and sand—into captivating abstract art that radiates tranquility and harmony.

Wendy’s creative process begins outdoors, exploring and photographing the organic environment. In her studio, she reimagines these moments through colour grouping and abstraction, working across a range of mediums including fine art giclĂ©e prints, Chromaluxe aluminium, canvas mixed media, and printed textiles. Each piece invites viewers to look beyond the surface, encouraging reflection and inner calm.

Her collections—such as the ‘Tranquility Collection’ focused on tree bark, the ‘Fluidity Collection’ exploring water reflections, ‘Summer Bliss’ capturing seaside memories, ‘Fragility’ celebrating sand fractures, and ‘Solidity’ inspired by rock patterns—are designed to bring peace and balance into any space, be it a home, office, or retreat. Wendy believes that connecting with nature through art can inspire gratitude and a deeper appreciation for the world around us, filling interiors with a unique sense of serenity.

Wendy’s work has been exhibited in respected galleries and art spaces across New South Wales, including solo and group exhibitions with IAVA and other leading organisations. Her commitment to sharing nature-inspired abstract art is reflected in her growing collector base and ongoing creative practice.
