Growing up in central coastal Queensland there were always beaches to explore and treasures to be found. From very young I always seemed to have sand in my shoes and a shell in my pocket.
Art has always been a sneaky pleasure for me. Luckily, I could integrate it into my job as a teacher, but I never allocated the time to make it more of a passion. However, now I am delighted to be able to carve out more time for an art practice.
Having used mainly watercolour paints and pastels throughout the years, I have now discovered the joy of acrylic paints (not the school poster paint variety we let the kids loose onπ)
The creaminess, the colours and the textures lend themselves to representing coastal scenes, shells in all their pearlescent beauty and other subjects.
I hope you will enjoy collecting these shells. Not by putting them in your pocket but on your wall!
