Growing up in central coastal Queensland there were always beaches to explore and treasures to be found. From very young I always seemed to have sand in my shoes and a shell in my pocket.
Art has always been a sneaky pleasure for me. Luckily, I could integrate it into my job as a teacher, but I never allocated the time to make it more of a passion. However, now I am delighted to be able to carve out more time for an art practice.
Having used mainly watercolour paints and pastels throughout the years, I have now discovered the joy of acrylic paints (not the school poster paint variety we let the kids loose on😊)
The creaminess, the colours and the textures lend themselves to representing coastal scenes, shells in all their pearlescent beauty and other subjects.
I hope you will enjoy collecting these shells. Not by putting them in your pocket but on your wall!
