Artist Bio
Just as musicians are attuned to the nuances of sound, as a visual artist, it is an aesthetic sense, a heightened sensitivity to line, colour, and balance, all harmonised through thoughtful design. My creative impulse is sparked by life's myriad experiences - optimism, personal observations, and the rich tapestry of travel- all converging with an enduring zest for life.
Painting for me is a dynamic balancing act. I fluidly navigate between various mediums and genres, embracing a diversity of themes, compositions and techniques. At the core of each work is a foundational drawing, a skeletal framework that guides the piece. Every painting aspires to evoke a distinct feeling or mood, capturing a sense of place and the intrinsic nature of the moment. Through the interplay of colour, stylistic techniques and narrative elements, I strive to achieve creative clarity.
Over the past three decades, my collaboration with licensing agents in Australia and the United States has led to the publication of my images and designs on a variety of merchandise across Europe, Britain, the United States and Australia.
My passion for art traces back to my childhood, spent on an isolated farming property near Old Junee, NSW. After completing my education at Wagga High School in the 1960s, then Business Studies at Wagga Commercial College, I moved to Sydney and studied Fashion (Drafting and Design) and Fine Art (Associate Diploma of Fine Art).
In the early 1970s, I lived and worked in London and Europe, immersing myself in the cultural zeitgeist of the era. These experiences further enriched my creative perspective.
I am based in Avalon, NSW, where my studio serves as a sanctuary.
