Artwork Description

As an artist, I am constantly inspired by the vibrant beauty of nature, and this mixed media painting is a testament to that inspiration. Titled Blossom Ballet, this piece captures the essence of a flourishing garden through a contemporary lens. The painting features collaged pre-painted shapes that are meticulously layered with colour and pencil work, creating a dynamic and textured surface that invites viewers to explore its depths.
This artwork is a celebration of colour and form, with a strong floral theme that is both bold and bright. The use of mixed media allows for a rich interplay of textures and hues, making each flower come alive with its own unique character.
In this painting, I aimed to blend the boundaries between abstraction and representation, creating a semi-abstract composition that is both visually striking and emotionally resonant. The flowers, rendered in a mix of vivid blues, purple, and reds, are set against a soft, almost ethereal background, evoking a sense of serenity and wonder. This piece is not just a depiction of a garden, but an invitation to immerse oneself in the beauty and complexity of nature.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my work. I hope this painting brings as much joy and inspiration to your space as it did to me while creating it.

Artist Bio

Best known for her whimsical, bright, boat and fish compositions, Wendy Eriksson creates images with successive layers of mixed media with an interest in spontaneity. Her colourful works are expressive and dramatic with an emphasis on the energy of the painter’s mark. She finds the artistic process exciting as it opens the gates for happy accidents that extend beyond just the materials.

She also investigates themes of the Australian Outback as they relate to rural life and an ever changing environment. Works such as the “Flooded Plains” series, with imagery composed of dots, colours, line work and abstract patterning, yield a complex ancient journey.

Wendy continues to explore a fascination with life on and under the water.
