Artwork Description

The thrill and dynamism of regatta days fuel my artistic inspiration. Sailor's Symphony is a mixed media painting that embodies the essence of racing sails and the exhilarating atmosphere of boats out on the water. It’s a regatta and everyone is enjoying being out in the sunshine with the waves and the wind.
This piece is a symphony of racing sails, where the boats are depicted in a lively and colourful array, each sail catching the wind and propelling forward. The painting is filled with a kaleidoscope of colours, representing the diverse and spirited nature of the event. The abstract forms and fluid lines convey the motion and excitement of the boats as they navigate through the water.
One of my favourite themes is boats on the water with fish swimming. This painting celebrates the harmony between humans and nature.
The use of mixed media allows for a rich texture and depth, enhancing the visual experience and drawing the viewer into the scene.
Sailor's Symphony is not just a visual representation but an invitation to feel the wind, hear the waves and experience the thrill of sailing.

Artist Bio

Best known for her whimsical, bright, boat and fish compositions, Wendy Eriksson creates images with successive layers of mixed media with an interest in spontaneity. Her colourful works are expressive and dramatic with an emphasis on the energy of the painter’s mark. She finds the artistic process exciting as it opens the gates for happy accidents that extend beyond just the materials.

She also investigates themes of the Australian Outback as they relate to rural life and an ever changing environment. Works such as the “Flooded Plains” series, with imagery composed of dots, colours, line work and abstract patterning, yield a complex ancient journey.

Wendy continues to explore a fascination with life on and under the water.
