Artwork Description

As an artist, I find beauty in the simplicity of everyday objects, and my painting, Silent Echoes, is a testament to this viewpoint. This light, contemporary artwork captures a common scene with a simple composition and a limited palette. Painted with quick strokes and watery washes, the piece exudes a sense of spontaneity and fluidity that brings the still life to life.
In Silent Echoes, I have chosen to depict a collection of everyday items, arranged in a way that highlights their inherent beauty and form. The use of a limited palette allows the viewer to focus on the shapes and textures of the objects, rather than being distracted by a multitude of colours. This approach creates a harmonious and cohesive composition that is both calming and intriguing.
The quick strokes and watery washes give the painting a sense of movement and lightness, as if the objects are gently floating in space. This technique also adds a layer of abstraction to the piece, inviting the viewer to interpret the scene in their own way. The result is a painting that feels both familiar and mysterious, capturing the silent echoes of everyday life.
Silent Echoes is a reminder that even the most ordinary objects can be transformed into something extraordinary through the lens of art. By focusing on the simple beauty of these items, I hope to inspire others to see the world around them in a new light.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my work. I hope Silent Echoes brings as much joy and inspiration to your space as it did to me while creating it.

Artist Bio

Best known for her whimsical, bright, boat and fish compositions, Wendy Eriksson creates images with successive layers of mixed media with an interest in spontaneity. Her colourful works are expressive and dramatic with an emphasis on the energy of the painter’s mark. She finds the artistic process exciting as it opens the gates for happy accidents that extend beyond just the materials.

She also investigates themes of the Australian Outback as they relate to rural life and an ever changing environment. Works such as the “Flooded Plains” series, with imagery composed of dots, colours, line work and abstract patterning, yield a complex ancient journey.

Wendy continues to explore a fascination with life on and under the water.
