Original Artwork's Description

From the dynamic energy to the iconic landmarks, Sydney constantly fuels my artistic inspiration. Surreal Sydney Symphony is a mixed media artwork made up of individually-painted paper collage pieces. The artwork captures the essence of the Sydney Opera House in a loose, contemporary and colourful style.
Sydney Opera House is one of my most favourite topics to paint. I have built the painting up with many layers of mark making, paint and ripped and cut papers to create a rich, deep and textural artwork.
This iconic landmark stands prominently with the Sydney Harbour in front, depicted in bold, bright and warm colours.
My approach is impressionistic and modern, aiming to convey the dynamic spirit and architectural beauty of this world-renowned structure. The interplay of colours and textures invites viewers to experience the Sydney Opera House in a new and imaginative way, celebrating its significance in Australian culture.

Artist Bio

Best known for her whimsical, bright, boat and fish compositions, Wendy Eriksson creates images with successive layers of mixed media with an interest in spontaneity. Her colourful works are expressive and dramatic with an emphasis on the energy of the painter’s mark. She finds the artistic process exciting as it opens the gates for happy accidents that extend beyond just the materials.

She also investigates themes of the Australian Outback as they relate to rural life and an ever changing environment. Works such as the “Flooded Plains” series, with imagery composed of dots, colours, line work and abstract patterning, yield a complex ancient journey.

Wendy continues to explore a fascination with life on and under the water.
