Koi 2: Resting

This piece is the 2nd painting in a series of Japanese Koi carp swimming in a pond. Heavy bodied acrylic paint was applied to the canvas with a combination of palette knife and fingers to create deep texture.

The painting is sealed with two coats of varnish. It is wired on the back and ready to hang!

Wendy now lives in Hobart, Tasmania, but she grew up in tropical North Queensland, so the flora and fauna of that region feature heavily in her work. She works mainly with heavy-bodied acrylics, applying the paint impasto style to create texture. She loves using bright colours, and is not afraid to get her hands dirty, as she often uses her hands and fingers instead of brushes!
