Our Red Rock

"Our Red Rock" is my interpretation of Australia's iconic rock form, Uluru. Using modelling paste and impasto gel to mold the shape of the rock, it stands out in stark relief to its surrounding.

This painting is mixed media on stretched canvas, sealed with gloss varnish. It is wired and ready to hang.

The gallery-wrapped edges of the canvas are painted, so there is no need for framing.

Wendy now lives in Hobart, Tasmania, but she grew up in tropical North Queensland, so the flora and fauna of that region feature heavily in her work. She works mainly with heavy-bodied acrylics, applying the paint impasto style to create texture. She loves using bright colours, and is not afraid to get her hands dirty, as she often uses her hands and fingers instead of brushes!
