Artwork Description

This piece is a vibrant exploration of perspective and light in the classic Impressionist tradition. The canvas is dominated by a rhythmic progression of water lily pads, rendered in a lush palette of verdant greens. Starting from the bottom with expansive, textured leaves, the forms gradually taper in size toward the top, creating a powerful sense of receding depth and organic flow.

In the delicate apertures between the foliage, the sky reveals itself as a liquid reflection. The palette transitions seamlessly from ethereal white clouds and soft azure in the distance to a deep, resonant cobalt blue in the foreground. The brushwork is energetic and spontaneous, capturing the shimmering, fleeting nature of light on water.

The painting is encased in a 2.9 cm thick natural wood floating frame. The raw, minimalist aesthetic of the wood provides a grounded contrast to the fluid, vivid colors of the pond. By creating a visual "gap" between the canvas and the frame, the floating mount gives the artwork a sophisticated, three-dimensional presence, making it a window into a serene, sun-drenched sanctuary.

Artist Bio

Wenjuan Yang has been interested in arts and crafts since she was a little girl.
About two years ago, Wenjuan began her journey with a simple passion for painting, learning everything from the ground up—from selecting the right brushes and paints to mastering the art of mixing colors and capturing light. Today, that curiosity has evolved into a recognized artistic journey.
In a remarkably short span of time, Wenjuan’s works have transitioned from the quiet of her backyard garden to the walls of private collectors. Most recently, her unique artistic voice was discovered by professional curators, leading to an invitation to exhibit at the "Splendour: The Transcendental Experience of Nature" exhibition during the 2026 Adelaide Fringe Festival.
Based in Adelaide.Moving forward, Wenjuan Yang will continue to channel a deep love for the natural world through her landscapes and floral paintings.
