Lions Gate was begun in 2019 and completed in 2024. This work delves into the symbolic power of the lion as a timeless emblem of kingship and leadership across cultures. Throughout history, lions have been revered as guardians and rulers, embodying qualities of strength, authority, and nobility. In "Lions Gate," I sought to capture this enduring symbolism, presenting the lion not just as an animal, but as a spiritual and cultural archetype that stands at the threshold of transformation and understanding.
My fascination with sacred geometry and architectural forms guided the composition of this piece. I chose to frame the lion’s face within the intricate design of a Gothic cathedral window This framing device creates a visual gateway with the interplay of geometric patterns and the lion’s commanding gaze.
