Los Pachas is inspired by the cosmology of Andean mythology, specifically the concept of the three realms known as The Pachas. In this painting, I explore the interconnected worlds that shape the Andean understanding of existence: Hanan Pacha (the upper world of the gods and ancestors), Kay Pacha (the middle world of everyday life), and Ukhu Pacha (the inner or lower world associated with the underworld, the dead, and fertility).
Symbolic figures animate each realm. In the upper world, the majestic condor soars, carrying vibrant Huayruro seeds, which are revered in Andean culture as tokens of good fortune and protection. Colibris (hummingbirds) ascend, each bearing bells from the Incan civilization-an allusion to the sacred sounds that guide souls forward and to the traditional Andean record-keeping system, the quipu, which preserved stories and history through knots and cords. In the ocean below, a siren blows into a conch shell( Pututu)l , echoing the sacred ceremonies where such shells were used to usher in energies and blessings
