The development of this image began as most others do, after I received an intuitive vison to recreate a portrait of a men, I felt it was Radagast. The owl was a necessary inclusion in theportrait as the original name of Aiwendill means ‘friend to the birds’.
when I began the creation of the work I was unaware that this was part of his persona. Owls
accompany Wizards and Magicians because of their ability to see in the dark. They provide extra eyes to see what is coming and potential risks.
This drawing acts as a conduit to take us to a place rooted within a forest ritual. The medicine man is immersed within the forest and is sharing his energetic field with the energetic field of a giant forest tree. The keepers of this tree circulate it and move towards the practitioner to assist him in his practice.
