The first painting I ever did was sold! I was only fifteen and my mother’s friend wanted to buy it. At first, I didn’t want to part with it as it felt like I would be losing a part of me. I reluctantly sold it mainly because I wanted to please my mother!
She told me her friend’s dinner guests all loved my painting. For some reason at that age, I thought my painting would be a possession you buy like a handbag and put into your wardrobe!
Growing older my thinking changed and I then realised it was a very good idea to share what you see and feel.
That was over fifty years ago! I studied art at university and taught art at school. And I still think it is a wonderful thing to share what you see and feel through paintings.
