William Choi has developed a great passion for art and painting as an artist, initially being self-taught and mentored by oil and pastel artists in Australia as well as attending numerous face to face and online artist workshops. He has received previous prizes and honourable mentions from local art societies in New South Wales and South Australia. William has also previously won sixth place in 2019 , third place in 2020 and 1st place in the American Art Awards.
William approaches his painting by capturing the intrinsic beauty he sees in human interaction, nature and the general world around him. His study of light and how it interacts with a subject or a scene, is the main key of how William tries to capture a moment in time or the feeling of what he is observing. William initially uses tonal approaches to his paintings followed by a strong confident use of colour which give his impressionistic paintings a colourful depth and movement. In this approach William hopes to evoke an emotion, a memory or a sense of wonderment to the viewers of his paintings.
